Environmental, Social and Governance Principles

Cell Insurance Group is committed to implementing Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) within its business operations. The group consists of its 3 business units – Cell Insurance Company (Private) Limited, CellMed Health Medical Fund, and Nectacare (Private) Limited. The ESG Framework of the organisation is anchored upon 5 Key Principles:

  1. Sustainability – We foster operations, products, and services that are responsive to the needs of the present and future generations. It is our collective belief that environmental, societal, and economic advancement should be undertaken in a manner that does not prejudice future generations.
  2. Transparency – Our organisation believes in disclosing its ESG performance to stakeholders to gain trust and ensure the credibility of ESG results.
  3. Towards Net-zero and climate risk integration – We undertake actions that draw us towards Net-zero, decarbonization, and allow us to incorporate climate risk into decision-making, enabling us to integrate climate risk into our processes.
  4. Social Transformation – Our approach to business supports fair labour practices, upholds human rights at work, prevents modern slavery, and builds resilient communities. Through our products and services, we aspire to enhance the lives of people and society at large, whilst at the same time minimising risk.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement – We have progressively prioritised stakeholder engagement as a key step in ensuring that we attain fair outcomes for decisions relevant to stakeholders. We aim to ensure that stakeholder engagement is participatory, genuine, sincere, and based on effective dialogue.
  6. Materiality – Our ESG progress is anchored in the effective determination of material ESG issues relevant to the business and its stakeholders. In pursuit of relevant material ESG issues, we strive to embrace “double materiality” as a tool to assess the sustainability impact and financial impact of ESG-related risks.

These principles are continually embedded in our Strategy, ESG Policy, procedures and business processes. Every employee is expected to uphold ESG principles in accordance with their respective functional level. The Board and Executive are committed to ensuring that an ESG culture is espoused in the organisation.
